Learn about solar in your community from those who already have it! IPL is partnering with the American Solar Energy Society to invite you to attend their annual National Solar Tour. This is the largest grassroots solar, renewable energy, and sustainable living event in the country. It's taking place in neighborhoods near you, and virtually, on October 1-2, 2022.
Participating sites can be found on the National Solar Tour Map.
(Most of the sites aren't houses of worship and few are near Rochester, but)
several congregations are offering virtual or in person tours of their solar:
·Wesley Union AME Zion Church (Norfolk, Virginia)
·Central Baptist Church (Wayne, Pennsylvania)
·Unity Renaissance (Chesapeake, Virginia)
·Second Presbyterian Church (Little Rock, Arkansas) (Includes electric car charging stations)
·Sun Prairie United Methodist Church (Sun Prairie, Wisconsin)
Central Baptist Church is offering a virtual tour. They are the latest Certified Cool Congregation at the 40% level, saving 6 tons of carbon emissions a year. In addition, they have had a big impact on their members and community with their varied outreach and education about saving energy. Read their story here.
Get inspired by the many stories of solar congregations on IPL’s Cool Congregations website. And let the sun shine on your accomplishments - get certified as a Cool Congregation so your story can inspire others.
People of faith and conscience like you are caring for Creation and our Sacred Earth by leading the way to a cleaner energy system that safeguards the health of our children and all future generations.
In gratitude for your actions and your stories that inspire us all,
Sarah Paulos
